Q: Enabling the QR code for use in the POS

Gift cards sold online through Govalo can also be redeemed in your Shopify POS. The first value on the gift card is always added to the cart, regardless of the value selected

While Govalo is compatible with most Shopify themes, sometimes it is unable to determine the variant selected, so it always adds the first value available on the gift card product, regardless of the value selected.

Recharge empowers the subscriptions offering in your store through recurring payments. Through the integration between Govalo and Recharge, you can take that to the next level by making it easy to gift subscriptions! Here's how you can do it:

In the Govalo app, go to Integrations and click Connect Recharge:

You'll be prompted to integrate Govalo and Recharge. Click Install to proceed with the integration:

Back to Govalo, in the Recharge integration dedicated page, click Add subscription product:

Select the subscription you would like to also offer as a gift:

How to disable/delete a Gift Card or Store Credit from Govalo

You can disable and/or delete gift cards and store credit issued through Govalo directly from our app - please refer to the steps below for how to do it.

In the Govalo app, go to the Gift cards dashboard:

Scroll down and locate the gift card you wish to disable in the Active gift cards list.
Click in the link under Order info to access the gift card details:

Scroll down and click Disable or Delete, then confirm your choice in the popup that opens:

Can you prevent discount codes from being applied to Gift Cards?

If you are on Shopify Plus, you can add a script to your checkout to make it so discount codes can’t be applied to specific products, such as gift cards.

Alternatively, Shopify allows you to specify whether a discount applies to a specific product or collection, so you may consider having a general collection that includes all products, except gift cards, and set up your discount codes so they can only be applied to that collection.

How to resend a gift card email

Sometimes you may need to re-send a gift card email, either because the recipient didn't receive it the first time, lost it, or the buyer misspelled the recipient's email, so you have to edit it and re-send the email.

Below you'll find steps for how to resend it for gift cards, store credit, and subscription gifts:

Resend a Gift Card or Store Credit

In the Govalo app, go to the Gift cards dashboard, then locate the gift card you wish to resend and access its details page:

If you need to adjust the recipient's email, click Edit, adjust the email address, then Save it. Otherwise, skip to the next step:

Click on Actions, then Resend email. Govalo will resend the email right away, and you'll see a new entry for it in the Timeline:
